| God directly
commands children to obey their parents. In
Ephesians 6:1 it says..."Children, obey your parents
in the Lord; for this is right." God placed
children under the authority of parents so they could be
protected. Our parents know more than us, so we
should listen to them.
God is to have first place in our live, and our parents
are our second priority.
Our parents make rules for our
protection, not just to keep us from having fun.
For example: If your Dad made a rule not to cross a busy
street, that rule is to protect you from getting hit by
a car!
In the same way, if we obey our
parents, we will be protected by God. But if we
disobey our parents, we step out from under God's
protection.
If we are obedient we will have
success. If you obey your teacher at school,
you'll get good grades. Disobedience brings
failure. Kids who always disobey the teacher don't
get good grades in school because they haven't learned
to listen and obey.
In the Bible, there is a story
about a man named Eli who was high priest of Israel.
The priests of Israel were like our pastors today.
The high priest was supposed to be one of the holiest
and most spiritual people in all of Israel.
Eli had two sons, named Hophni
and Phinehas, who were very wicked. They would
steal from the offerings at church and commit terrible
sins with the women who came to the temple.
Eli talked to his sons, and
asked them to stop doing bad things, but he never
spanked them, or made them do what was right.
Eli was warned by a young
child, whom God had chosen to be a prophet for Him, that
because Eli's sons were wicked because they were never
corrected, Eli's sin would not be forgiven.
Not long after that something
terrible happened to Eli's sons and to Eli.
What happened to Eli and
his Sons? Who was this young KID prophet? Make sure you attend Super
Church on Sunday, August 23, to find out more. See
